Dr. Ken Thielmeier Graduate 1980

Dr. Ken Thielmeier
1980 graduate and widely-published anesthesiologist Dr. Ken Thielmeier helped to make history in July 2001, serving as the head of the anesthesiology
team that performed the world's first self-contained artificial heart implantation at
Louisville's Jewish Hospital.

Carole Shepherd Liedtke
1964 graduate Carole Shepherd Liedtke used athletics as her vehicle to blaze a trail for young women to follow.
Carol was the first high school girl to be entered in the Mason Dixon Games. Throughout her career
at the University of Louisville and later as a teacher and coach, she continued to be a force in women's gymnastics.

James Shaw
1967 graduate James Shaw became the first blind student in the Jefferson County Public Schools.
His thirty-two year career with the Social Security Administration was highlighted by outstanding
performance and extraordinary public service. According to James, "I have led a life that has been
enriching and fulfilling in every aspect. I have not let any barriers prevent me from carrying out
my hopes and aspirations. My three years at PRP taught me so much about my ability to 'reach for the stars'
and accomplish great things."

Russell Kline Teacher & Coach

Russell Kline
Starting at PRP in 1970, Russell Kline has served as math teacher, as well as coach for
a variety of sports, including track and football. He succeeded to become
a distinguished athletic director.

Excellence In Teaching

Frank Gilbert Teacher

Frank Gilbert
English, drama, and multimedia teacher Frank Gilbert is the recipient of the Alumni Association's
Teaching Excellence Award. He graduated from PRP in 1975, returning to teach there in 2000.
